Find Flow & Pressure in up to 25 pipes

November 29th, 2007

Designing a pipe system
We have produced a “Lite” version of Pipe Flow Expert that allows up to 25 pipes to be modelled in a single system. This program is exactly the same as the full version of Pipe Flow Expert except for the 25 pipe restriction. A pipe represents a logical connection between two points in a system, which may be just a few feet apart or they could be many miles apart. Multiple fittings and bends can be added to a pipe so that one logical pipe can be used to model a physical length of pipeline that has a number of twists and turns. The only time that a new pipe needs to be added into the model is if the pipe material or the the size of the pipe changes, which requires new data to be specified so that accurate calculations can be peformed.

Pipe Flow Expert Lite has proved to be very popular with engineers that need to find the flows and pressures in relatively small pipe networks. The software will model open and closed loop systems with components, pumps, fittings, valves, tanks, flow demands and other items. We have had great feedback on our easy-to-use interface and most engineers are able to get up and running immediately without having to read through pages and pages of user guide information.

You can Download Pipe Flow Expert Lite for a free trial and see if it meets your requirements. There are a number of example systems that you can view, open and solve to see the capabilities of the program. You can also draw and solve your own small systems to get a feel for how easy it is to use the Pipe Flow Expert software.

Why not try Pipe Flow Expert Lite today. It may be just the program you are looking for and at less than 50% of the cost of the full version, it provides an incredible value-for-money offer that is unbeatable.

Pipe Flow Expert version 2.04 Released

November 19th, 2007

Today, PipeFlow.co.uk released a new version of their popular Pipe Flow Expert software, which solves the flow and pressure losses in pipe networks. Pipe Flow Expert 2008 has a significant number of new features and enhanced functionality.

Updates in version 2.04 include:

  • Zoom to a selected area on the drawing.
  • Energy Loss calculations for each pipe, including energy used by friction, fittings, control valves, & pumps.
  • Improved Results Log Messages

New features in Pipe Flow Expert 2008 also include:

  • Network Licensing and easy installation to a shared drive.
The software can now be installed to any hard drive including local drives, network drives or USB memory sticks.
  • Cut, Copy and Paste of multiple items.
Multiple items can now be selected, updated, moved and copied. Items can also be copied between different drawings.
  • Pipes and Nodes can now be amended as a group.
Update attributes across a group of items with one operation to allow easy configuration of
pipe diameters and node elevations (and many other attributes).
  • Coloring of pipes in design mode is now supported.
Pipes can be drawn in different colors and line styles to aid in the visualisation of items within the system.
  • Color Gradient Coloring of Pipe and Node Results.
Results item such as flow rate or pressure loss can be selected and automatically mapped on to a color gradient which is then used to determine the color of the item on the results
screen. This feature makes it easy to visually see what is happening in your system, i.e. where the highest flows are, or where the highest pressure loss is.
  • Support for modeling Pumps with the inclusion of a Fixed Head pressure rise.
The pump head to be added can now be directly specified, which makes it easy to find out if a particular pump head is enough
to solve your system and meet all of the design requirements.

Pipe Flow Software Launches New Web Site

November 12th, 2007

Welcome to PipeFlowSoftware.com, the sister site of PipeFlow.co.uk (designers of software for pressure drop and fluid flow calculations).

This is our new international web site that provides information about flow and pressure loss calculations, and explains how our software can be used to model a wide variety of pipe systems including both open and closed pipe networks.

Pipe Flow Calculations Software

Whether you are developing a new piping design, modelling an existing system or upgrading an existing pipe network, we think that our Pipe Flow Software may be just the engineering tool that you are looking for. We pride ourselves on producing software that is simple, easy-to-use, is powerful with a robust calcualtion engine and which gets the job done. We understand that users want a very intuitive user interface that they can work with immediately (without having to spend days and weeks training to use the software). When you combine the ease-of-use of our Pipe Flow Software with our value-for-money pricing, we think that you’ll find a very competitive offering that means choosing PipeFlow should be an easy decision.

One of our users gave a typical testimonial quote, “Your customer support for your excellent products is simply superb. In closing, let me say that I cannot speak highly enough of PipeFlow, your support and your products.”. You can find out more about this user, read their full testimonial and read other user testimonials about our software at PipeFlow Testimonials.

When analyzing a piping system it is critical to understand how the pipelines, pumps, components and controls interact with each other. Our PipeFlow software programs are designed to provide a clear view of your piping system operations. The PipeFlow programs are sold worldwide in over 70 countries and have been used to analyse systems in many industries, including HVAC, sprinkler systems, wastewater collection, chemical processing, power generation and general engineering.

PipeFlow.co.uk is a member of the British Pump Manufacturers Association (www.bpma.org.uk) who are themselves a member of the european pump organisation Europump (www.europump.org). PipeFlow also produced a vesrion of its “Pipe Flow Energy” software for Europump that is now distributed on CD with Europump’s Guide on System Efficiency - A Guide for Energy Efficient Rotodynamic Pumping Systems.

We hope that going forward this site will prove to be a useful source of information on flow and pressure loss calculations. We aim to produce new articles and example calculations on a regular basis that will help engineers to gain from our experience. If you have any questions or comments on this site or our sister site PipeFlow.co.uk then please do get in touch.
